evening at the home of Mrs. Ser-
elda Bishop. aged 110, believed to
have been the oldest resident of the
section, whose death occurred Thur-
day at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. C. L. Robinson, in Algoma.
"She is survived by three children,
the oldest being 75 and the young-
est over 60.
"Authentic information concerning
her life, age. and place of birth were
given by her youngest son G.W.
Bishop of Monroe county. who is
over 60.
"Mrs. Bishop, a native of England,
was born in 1824 a short time be-
fore her parents sailed for this
country. They settled in the east
and later came into the Virginias.
In mid-life she met and married
David Bishop and to this union was
born fourteen children three of
whom are living. Three sons are
to have lost their lives in the
War Between the States.
"Mr. and Mrs. Bishop came to the
coalfields as pioneers and made
their home in this section. David
Bishop preceded his wife to the
grave having died several years ago.
Mrs. Bishop made her home
among her children since the death
of her husband and always led an
active life up until the last few
months.
"She is surviced by a son, G.W.
Bishop of Monroe county, and two
daughters. Mrs. C.L. Robinson, of
Algoma, and Mrs Rhoda Hendricks
of Pageton and also a large num-
ber of grandchildren and great-
grandchildren,
"The body will be laid to rest in
the Day cemetery on Belcher moun-
tain near Kimball at 11 o'clock on
Sunday morning."
