"Reverand Danny Ray Hansford 73, 0f East Gulf, peacefully passed away on Wednesday April 9, 2025, in his sleep after a long battle with cancer."Born October 9, 1951, in Charleston, he was the son of the late Robert James, and Lorene Jarrell Hansford.
"Danny worked in construction and was a coalminer. He was called into the ministry. He preached and pastored for many years. The important things in his life were faith and family. Danny enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching his grandchildren play, gardening, and sitting on the porch with a hot cup of coffee and Sonoma in hand, reminiscing on his days spent in the mines. He enjoyed studying the word of God, and one of his favorite verses came from the Twenty Third Pslam. “ Yeah though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death I will fear no evil, for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff comfort me. Though preparest a table before in the presence of my enemies, thou anointest my head with oil my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever”.

"Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of Fifty Four years , Collette Hansford, His children: Danny “Pugg” Hansford, Timmy Hansford, and Jerry Hansford. His Brothers and Sisters: Robert Hansford, Tina Price and her husband James, and Scott Hansford and his wife Dianne. His grandchildren: Danny I and his wife Hermie Hansford, Jessica, Danni, Destiny, Skyla, and her husband Kaleb, Jeremiah and Nona, Summer, Luke, Hayley, and Hunter. His great-grandchildren: Sydney, Dixie, Paisley, Mariauna, Kadin, Josiah, James, Zoey, Alaya, Rayden, and Emily. Longtime friends: Joe Cadle and Eddie Obey. Danny’s final wishes were to be remember him in life, not death.

Ernest loved listening to music, traveling to Tennessee, and animals, especially Kelli’s cats. He enjoyed watching the deer outside his window at the Oak Ridge Center and he loved Sunkist orange pop.
