"Freddie Jo Combs, 75, of Isaban, WV, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025."Freddie Jo was born December 30, 1949 in Isaban, WV, a daughter of the late Miles and Winnie Dotson Roberts. Freddie Jo was a member of the Isaban Baptist Church in Isaban. She loved singing at church and taught Vacation Bible School. Freddie Jo loved sitting on her front porch; it was her happy place. She loved spending time with her family and watching her great grandchildren play sports.
"In addition to her parents, Miles and Winnie Roberts, Freddie Jo was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Howard St. Clair Jr., her second husband, Randall Combs; four brothers, Miles Roberts Jr., Eugene Lester, Brian Lester, and Bobby Roberts; and two sisters, Freda Gaye Roberts and Darlene Lester.
"Survivors include two sons, Timothy St. Clair and wife Tina and Neil St. Clair and wife Chrystal all of Isaban; two grandsons, Cody St. Clair and wife Emily of Justice and Jacob St. Clair and wife Kalli of Baisden; two granddaughters, Natasha Nagy and husband Branson of Isaban and Kyla St. Clair of Isaban; three great grandsons, Isaac Burton, Bryson St. Clair, and Asher Nagy; two great granddaughters, Aubree Burton and Sydney "Cindy Lynn" St. Clair; four sisters, Donna Perry of Isaban, Debbie Roberts and Phyllis Roberts both of Princeton and Glenna Roberts of Pennsylvania two brothers, Roy Roberts and Steve Roberts both of Princeton; a brother-in-law, Darrell Hurley and wife Lisa of Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special fur baby, Lady Bug.
"Friends may visit with the family Tuesday evening, March 4, 2025 at the Isaban Baptist Church in Isaban after 6 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7 o’clock.
"Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at 12 o’clock with Pastor Gary Justice officiating at the Isaban Baptist Church in Isaban. Burial will follow in the Lester/St. Clair Cemetery at 2118 Four Pole Creek Road at Isaban. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.

"Larey was born August 31, 1960, a son of the late Elmer and Jaqueline Payne. He was a lifelong resident of Bradshaw, WV. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his children. He also enjoyed riding horses and coon hunting.

"HI. I was raised in Bradshaw. My name is James (Jimmie) Carlos Payne. My father was James Elmer Payne, he was married to Jacqueline Ann (Counts) Payne. His brothers were Everette Payne born 1908, William Earl Payne born1910, Elmer was born 1912, Vernor R. Payne born 1914, Oma (Payne), Minter, then Mullins. Their parents were Lewis Howard Payne, and Patricia (Patty) (Mullins) Payne. They also had a 1/2 brother, Everette Mullins that lived on Bradshaw Mountain. He served 10 years I believe. Roger Payne, Emory Keith Payne, Barbra Payne, and Cathy (Payne) Oquin. Roger was shot and killed by Emory whithin the last couple of year. Their fathers brother was Harvey Payne. I'm not sure whether there were any more children. I believe Harvey had a son named Raymond, and Raymond had a daughter. I don't know if there was any more children. I know she owns a lot of properyty around there. Further up the road was Eddie Payne, don't remember his wifes name, I know he had a son named Jimmy Payne, and a daughter named Lisa Payne. A little further up the road was Bus Payne, he owened Saveway store, I know he had a son named David, and a brother named Bear Payne. Then down the road up bee branch holler was Claude Payne,Children named Tommy, James Frankie, Hubert, Eddie, Charlene,and Donna. I also went to school with a Clifford Payne of of Rock Ridge. Then there was Will Payne, He had a gang of children, then down at Garland 6 miles from Bradshaw, there was Basil Payne, children Dennis, my ex brother-in-law, Raymond, and another boy and girl. Then up on top of Beartown holler Jimmy Payne, And I know of another group but the only one I remember was James Payne.There was some more I remember my father telling me about over the years but its been so long I don't remember.Theres also a unincorparated town up Bradshaw Mountain called Paynes'ville. James proudly served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Cold War. In his spare time he loved fishing, his cat, and working with his hands; often fixing things and building things for his neighbors. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers: Larry "Mokie" Payne, and Matthew Thomas. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Rebecca R. Payne of Winston Salem, NC; his son Joey Payne of Greensboro, NC; his brother Mark Thomas and wife Dawn of Moorpark, CA; two sisters, Tawnya Day of Statesville, NC and Tina Thomas of Simi Valley, CA; an aunt, Dakery Mullins of Dublin, VA; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
