Pamela Hunt is a newcomer to McDowell
County. She was born and raised in a small
town, Waverly, in Pike County, Ohio. After
graduating from high school in 1980, she
attended first Berea College, then Eastern Ken-
tucky University, earning a BME degree in
Music Education.
|n the Fall of 1989, Раm moved to McDowell
County to teach elementary general music at
Panther and Jolo Elementary Schools. |n 1991,
she became Music Teacher at laeger Elemen—
tary where she is currently employed. Pam
recently learned that her maternal ancestors
were from Tazewell, Virginia, that her great-
uncle was at one time temporarily employed at
Panther. Her hobbies include playing traditional
music on hammered dulcimer, lap dulcimer,
bowed psaltery, and autoharp as well as col—
lecting traditional songs and folktales. She has
been a featured performer at the Ceretta Festi-
val since its inception. She may not be a
