"Linda Diane Nickell-Colbird, 50, of Herndon Heights, WV passed peacefully on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at her home. She was born on August 21, 1973 in Cleveland, OH a daughter of the late James Nickell and Audrey Boone Mickell Royse. Linda was a nurse for 18 years where she dutifully cared for people and their families until she decided to retire early to care for her family at home. She was well known for her beautiful singing voice and for her ability to craft. She loved to shop, drink coffee and to spend time with her family. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother Charles Mickell, her step dad Oliver Royse, and her mother-in-law Belinda Colbird. Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 32 years Randy Colbird, her children Katie (Amon) Shrewsbury and Avery Colbird, her grandson Oakley Colbird, her siblings Karen Gallindo and Linda Nelson of TX, James (Reba) Nickell, Wanda Burnette, Carol “Sue” (Melvin) Colbird and David (Temple) Nickell, and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, May 30th at the Guyandotte Baptist Church, Herndon, WV with Rev. Nathan Lane officiating. She will be laid to rest in Belle-Colbird Cemetery, Herndon, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 12 pm until time of service on Thursday at the church. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV."

"Betty Gaye Ellis Burgess, 74, of Ravencliff, WV passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV. She was born on April 8, 1950 in Glen Rogers, WV a daughter of the late Virgil Andrew and Mary Hazeline Brown Ellis. Betty was a retired Psychometrician employed by Mari Sullivan Walker, INC. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by five siblings Carl (Isabell) Ellis, Jimmy (Mary) Ellis, Virgil (Dolores) Ellis, Clyde (Alice) Ellis, and Magdalene Ellis, brother and sister in laws, Nathan “Leroy” Tweed, Richard Poore, Jewell (Lawrence) Bailes, Ivan Dale Burgess, and Gary Lee Burgess. Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband Larry Donald Burgess, two children Larry Donald (Carissa Sanders) Burgess, Jr. of Knoxville, TN and Mary Beth (Allen Ray) Adams of Pineville, WV, seven grandchildren, her only granddaughter Skyler Brooke Burgess, Dyland David Burgess, Keaton James Burgess, Allen Ray Adams, Zachary Charles (Derek Kennedy) McMillion who she raised, Jackson Christopher Lattie who she raised, a step grandchild Seth Allen Adams, a sister Patty Walker, a brother Roger (Joann) Ellis, sister in laws Edna (Jeff) Farris, Charlotte ”June” (Connie) Bailey, Charlotte Burgess, Rebecca Tweed and Geraldine Poore, special friends Rachel and Willis Tolliver and Linda Wiker.
