He had been a resident of Mercer County since 2001. He attended Southview Church and served his country in the United States Army. John was a retired mechanic.
"In addition to John’s parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Ann Phillips-Rose (1935-2008); brothers, V.D. Rose (Deceased), Victor H. Rose (Deceased) and Odel Rose (Deceased); sisters, Regina Rose (Deceased) and Velma Rose-Harman (Deceased).

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the Southview Church in Bluewell.
"In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, George Phillips, Jr., Theodore Phillips, Buford Phillips, and Marvin Phillips; and two sisters, Irene Greene and Alberta Day.
