"Van Leslie Davis, 87 years of age of Paynesville, WV, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 at Dogwood Crossing Assisted Living and Memory Care. Born March 27, 1930 in Paynesville, WV, he was the son of the late Van Davis and Ella Horn Davis.

"Van was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict as a Combat Engineer. He was self employed, having worked in the coal, natural gas and construction industries. He was a member of the Masonic Temple and Shriners, enjoyed hunting, working on cars, was an avid race fan and was of the Baptist faith. A loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle.

"In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

"Survivors include his loving wife of sixty years, Connie Keller Davis of Paynesville, WV; daughter Anita Rice and husband Alan of Princeton, WV; son Les Davis and wife Joann of Meadowview, VA; granddaughter Olivia Davis of Johnson City, TN; step-grandchildren Dustin Young of Tifton, GA and Derrin Young of Meadowview, VA; several nieces and nephews.

"Funeral service for Van Leslie Davis, will be held at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel of Grundy, VA, Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Evangelist Hobert Kennedy and Pastor Bob Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in the Tom Sparks Cemetery, Paynesville, WV.
