David Wayne "Dave" Dotson

"David "Dave" Wayne Dotson, 66, of Welch, West Virginia, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky. David was born September 7, 1957, a son of Raymond and Geneva Cook Dotson. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and friend.

"David had a kind heart and was so full of life. He had a special love for children and enjoyed dressing up as Santa, the Easter Bunny, and even Abraham Lincoln for the children in McDowell County. His Donald Duck impersonation was a favorite among the children who loved to hear his voice. David was a devoted husband, and his daughter Ashley was his life, his heart, and his soul. David had a successful career as a dedicated Coal Miner, serving for 37 years before retiring. He was a member of Capels Church of God, where he played the drums and guitar, as well as sang. In his free time, David enjoyed fishing and hunting.

"In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Ashley Nicole Dotson, Oldest sister Carol Miller and husband David, Sister Patricia Webb and husband Dickie, Brother Raymond Dotson Jr. and wife Delena, Baby Sister Kathy Dotson, Baby Brother Robert Dotson, and Father-in-Law; Herman Riffe.

"David is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Catheia "Kay" Dotson, his brother Jessie Dotson, and wife Renevae, his sister Louise Steele and husband Roger, who was also his favorite fishing buddy, his brother Bryan Dotson and wife Edna, his sister Crystal Dotson and fiancé Rick Pack, his mother-in-law Delphine Riffe, and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was a very special Papaw to Adyn Skye Daniels, Haileigh Renee Burkett, and Branson Burkett. David also leaves behind his two special kitty cats, Tippy Toe, and Ole Yeller, as well as a host of other family and friends.

"Services will be held at 12:00 PM Noon on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the Fanning Funeral Home Chapel in Welch, West Virginia, with Brother Tim Akers and Brother Ronald Felts officiating. Friends may visit with the family Monday evening, January 29, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Welch, WV. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, West Virginia. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Burial will follow in the Justice Family Cemetery in Guesses Fork near Hurley, VA. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
