"Carrol Wetzel Blankenship, Jr. age 67 of Bremen, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024. He was born on June 16, 1956, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Carrol Wetzel Blankenship, Sr. and the late Una Francell Hoderfield. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Kenny Blankenship."Carroll loved his family, and he especially enjoyed teasing his grandchildren. Talking on the phone was one of his favorite pastimes, as was fishing and cooking. Carroll was a wheeler dealer and was adept at making the best trade deals. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Died: November 17, 2015"Katheryn Patty Asbury, age 95, of Ghent, passed away at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Rich Creek, Va. on Tuesday, November 17, 2015.
"Born on March 11, 1920 in Canebrake, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Jacob Daniel Rowe and Patty Harrison Rowe.
"Mrs. Asbury last worked as a physician's office assistant and had made her home in Ghent for the past three years. She lived most of her life in McDowell County and Ballard, W.Va. For many years she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, was an avid artist, having done hundreds of oil paintings. Mrs. Asbury was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
"She was preceded in death by her husband William Charles Asbury, and by a son Joseph Ray Asbury.
"Survivors include her children; Charles Vernon Asbury and his wife Betty of Cashmere, W.Va., William Grant Asbury and his wife Charlene of Ashburnham, Mass., Dexter E. Asbury and his wife Kay of Ghent, Roger A. Asbury of Pulaski, Va., Jerry L. Asbury of Culpeper, Va., Albert R. Asbury and his wife Carolyn of Mansfield, Pa., and Martha June Asbury and her partner Glenn McKinney of Lewisburg.
"A brother Robert Rowe North Carolina, 17 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren also survive.
"A memorial service will be held at a later date.
"In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
"It was Katheryn's wishes that she be cremated and her ashes placed with her father, Jacob Daniel Rowe."
