Born on May 5, 1940 in Van Lear, KY he was the son of Russell and Georgene (Adams) Duty."As a young boy, he grew up and attended school in Kentucky. At the age of 16, he moved to Indiana. On February 6, 1989 he married Brenda Gaile Collier in Paintsville, KY. For the past 28 years, he has lived at his present home in Pierceton. He was a retired machinist for Zimmer, Inc., Warsaw, IN serving over 20 years.
