"Melvin Edward Cochran, 83, of Bristol, Virginia, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Broadmore Assisted Living. He was born on July 21, 1925 in Lester, West Virginia, to the late Ed and Mandy Cochran. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army.

"Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Morgan Cochran; two sons, Sgt. Gary D. and Brian K. Cochran; and two brothers, Alvin and Leonard Cochran.

"He is survived by his son, Greg Cochran and wife Annette, of Bristol, Tennessee; three grandchildren: Bill Cochran and wife Colleen, of Smyrna, Georgia, Steven Cochran of Bristol, Virginia, and Laura Cochran Biscotte and husband Stephen, of Roanoke, Virginia; sister, Lorena Milam and husband Herb, of Lester, West Virginia; mother-in-law, Laura E. Morgan; brother-in-law, Ron Morgan and wife Anna; sisters-in-law, Hope Huffman, Gladys Cochran, and Wilma Morgan; and several nieces and nephews.

"The funeral service will be held at 11 O’Clock Tuesday morning, April 28, 2009, in the Mausoleum at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Virginia with Rev. Mike Jackson officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Barns-Beavers VFW Post #7136, of Tazewell, Virginia.
