"Ernest (Ernie) McCoy Jr., 70, of Graycourt, SC, formerly of Mohawk and Panther, WV passed away at his home on July 29, 2023 while battling cancer."Ernest was born May 2, 1953 in War Eagle, WV a son of the late Ernest McCoy Sr. and Edna A Birchfield McCoy. Ernest had accepted the Lord and was saved in Christ; he loved the Lord’s Prayer. Ernest was an Electronic Engineering Technician and had served in the military in the US Army. Ernest enjoyed working in his garden; whittling wood, making decorative jewelry boxes and giving them to family and friends and anyone that wanted one. He had a love for music and was very talented in playing the guitar.
"In addition to his parents, Ernest McCoy Sr. and Edna McCoy, Ernie was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia (Patsy) McCoy McGuire, maternal grandparents, Mose and Lucinda Lambert Birchfield, and paternal grandparents, Charlie and Matilda Jane Estep McCoy.
"Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 47 years, Doris Bailey McCoy; sons, Daniel McCoy and Aaron McCoy both of South Carolina; sisters, Jean (Kenny) Cline of Crab Orchard, WV, and Carol (Joe) Vance of Alabama; brothers, Donald (Rose) McCoy of Pineville, WV, Jerry (Alexis) McCoy of Claymont, DL and William (Bill) McCoy of Alabama; nieces, Melissa McGuire Justice, Christina Cline Cozart, Chassie McCoy Duty, Summer McCoy Leifew, and Lila McCoy; nephews Michael Cline, Jeffrey Cline, Mark Vance, Johnny Vance, Bryan Vance, Matthew McCoy, J.D. McCoy and Ian McCoy; and several great nieces and great nephews.
"Ernie was a kind, gentle, and generous soul. Everyone who met him loved him; gone but never will be forgotten.
"In honoring the wishes of the deceased his body has been cremated with no services at this time.
"A memorial service will be held at a later date."
