"On January 27, 2014, the Phillips family lost a wonderful father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. For more than 89 years, Glen Phillips lived a life that left an impression on everyone he touched. He came from humble beginnings on a small farm in Saulsville, W.Va., where he was the second born of Lacy and Susie's eight children. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Although he is preceded in death by his wife, Audrey, they journeyed through life together for over 58 years."He was employed by Columbia Gas of WV for more than 30 years and was blessed to enjoy more than 30 years of retirement. A lifelong member of the Friendship Old Regular Baptist Church in Saulsville, he loved his Lord and lived a life that exemplified his faith. He will be missed beyond measure by his family and friends and by his daughters and son – Pam Healy (Brian) of Charleston, Joan Duffey (Bill) of Millwood, Debbie Grubb (Doug) of Cardington, Ohio, and David Phillips of Buckhannon. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren are blessed with many memories of a soft-spoken grandfather who cherished them. Although quiet by nature, he was an incredibly kind and genuine man who made people smile. Every day that he was able, he visited his extended family at Shoney's and his family would like to thank Amy, Anne, Kathy and everyone at Shoney's for their care and concern. We would also like to thank Cliff for his friendship over the last year and a half and Dr. Jack Kinder and his staff for invaluable guidance.
"The family will celebrate Glen's life on Thursday, January 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens and Grass Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 31st, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.
