"Steven Douglas Burton 66 of Raysal, WV departed this life June 2, 2023 at Buchanan General Hospital in Grundy, VA."Steve was born October 28, 1956 in Iaeger, WV a son of Lorene Burton Click and the late Adam Douglas Burton. Steven was a graduate of Iaeger High School class of 1974. He joined the Marine Corps shortly after graduation. If you knew Steve you knew he loved his country. After the Marine Corps he became a coal miner and a member of the UMWA.
"In addition to his father, Adam Douglas Burton, Steve was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Kennedy; his son, Eric Burton; a daughter, Stevie Burton; his second wife, Sherry Vance Burton; son-in-law, Chris Blankenship; and one nephew, Adam Burton.
"Survivors include his mother, Lorene Click and his step-father, Billy Click of Raysal, WV; one daughter, Candice Blankenship of Slate Creek, VA; brother, Marc Burton and wife Sherry of Raysal; step-brother, Stanley and Karen Click of Caretta, WV and Dustin Matney and wife Kim of Honaker, VA. Steve is also survived by his nephew’s wife, Jamie and her children, Bailey, Levi, Harper and Harley; his grandchildren, Ericah Burton, Montana Dye and fiancé, Eddie Stress, Riley Burton, Kobe Blankenship, Kole Blankenship, and Payton and Parker Matney; his great granddaughter Meadow Stress, whom he called his princess; a special cousin, Estil and Crystal Blankenship; and several nieces and nephews.
"Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 1 o’clock with Reverend Roger Pete Woods and Reverend Ricky Garlic officiating at the Jesus Church of Bartley, Bartley, WV. Burial will follow in the Kennedy Cemetery in Bug Hurley Hollow near Jolo, WV. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
