"FANROCK — Mavis Blankenship, 78, of Fanrock, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness."Born Dec. 18, 1928, in Mingo County, she was the daughter of the late Oley Cook (Deceased) and Goldie Davidson-Cook (Deceased).
"Mrs. Blankenship was a member of Clear Fork Independent Church of God. She enjoyed cooking, taking care of her family, raising and working in her garden and being with her family and friends.
"In addition to her parents, a son, Alfred Blankenship Jr. (Deceased), and two brothers, Norris Cook (Deceased) and Norwood Cook (Deceased), preceded her in death.
"Survivors include her husband, Alfred Blankenship Sr.; a son, Johnnie Mack Blankenship and his wife, Cathy, of Pineville; a daughter, Vannis Joy Blankenship (1956-2011) at home; two sisters, Jean Cook-Conley of Oceana and June Cook-Smith of Inez, Ky.; and two grandchildren, Johnny Blankenship Jr. and Jeffrey Lee Blankenship.
"Service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Evans Memorial Chapel, Oceana, with the Rev. Junior Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny."

Teresa was the daughter of the late Earl and Sue Shields of New Richmond, WV. Teresa was a 1993 graduate of Pineville High School. She loved her work family at the Wyoming County Health Deptartment where she did various differnt jobs."Teresa's caring spirit and generous heart could be felt by anyone she came in contact with. She had a
special gift of not only seeing the good in people, but bringing out the best in them, as well. We will miss her infectious smile the most, which could light up a room and change your whole day. She was an avid lover of the beach, enjoying family time, reading, helping others, and taking a nap. No one loved a nap more than her and she expressed it often. The relationship she had with her mother was like no other. They shared an unbreakable bond and she was able to be with her up until the end. Teresa was a wonderful big sister, and always made sure she spent quality time with her siblings. Teresa was selfless and put others first. She was fun loving, outgoing, and vivacious. She was an example to so many, and a shining light to all who knew her. When you think of Teresa, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest. "James "Jim" T. Lane, age 77, of Northfork, WV, died March 20, 2012 at his residence. He was born December 24, 1934 in Elbert, WV. He was the son of the late David Lane and Eliza Emmert Kile. He was affiliated with the Protestant Faith. He was a graduate of Gary High School, class of 1952. He received his Bachelors Degree in 1956 from Marshall University, and later he received his Degree in Teaching from West Virginia University."James T. Lane was a McDowell County Educator, he taught at Gary High School for eight years. He was Principal at Big Creek High School for four years, and was Principal at Northfork High School for 21 years. He loved playing golf, and was an avid golfer for the past 52 years.
"Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother; Louis Lane, two sisters; Nettie Thomas and Dorothy Crites. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy Hughes Lane of Surfside Beach, SC; two sons; James David Lane of Las Vegas, NV; and William Allen Lane of Butner, NC; four nephews; Robert "Bob" Thomas and wife Gloria of Pensacola, FL; Phillip Thomas and wife Dawn of Cleveland, TN; Larry Lane and wife JoAnn of Welch, WV; one niece; Brenda Reed and husband Carl of Brushfork, WV.
