Acosta, 65, of Lynco, WV formerly of New Richmond, WV died March 1, 2023 at Mercer Nursing & Rehabilitation Center (MNRC) in Bluefield, WV."Michael was born on September 9, 1957, in Iaeger, WV and was the son of the late Louis L. and Fannie Acosta. He was a WV Coal Miner, having worked for U.S. Steel in Pineville, WV as his first coal mining job. He also worked for several other coal companies and later on owned a construction company in Charlotte, NC. Michael also liked using his artistic skills by helping out on many Commercial Art Projects with brothers, Tom and Angelo in WV and NC. He liked music and was teaching himself to play guitar and banjo. Michael attended the Oceana Freewill Baptist Church in Oceana, WV, where he rededicated his life to Jesus, and would often sing songs in church that related to his life prior to becoming a Christian. He found joy in talking to others about his Faith and would often speak at "One Voice" in Oceana. Mike was willing to help anyone he could.
"Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Acosta, and one brother, George Blankenship.
"Survivors include two sons, David (Lois) Acosta of Bradshaw, WV and Chris (Melissa) Acosta of Middleton, Delaware. Three sisters, Jennie Wheeler of Welch, WV, Mattie Acosta-Fain of Dobson, NC and Donna (Tim) Baker of Beckley, WV. Two brothers, Tom Acosta of Kimball, WV and Angelo Acosta of Myrtle Beach, SC. Three grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild on the way. He also leaves behind his caregiver and very close friend, Daisy Farrington.
