David of Jesse; a brother Benny Lafferty and wife Virginia of Matheny; as well as a “special” nephew Jackie

"Glenna Faye Cline Lafferty, 74, of Taylorsville, NC, a lifetime, God fearing Christian, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 7th 2022 at the Frye Regional Medical Center, Hickory, NC. She was affectionately called Glenna Faye, Sis, Maw Glenna and famously known as mom, mama and mawmaw. She was raised and lived most of her life in Sun Hill, WV. She lived life serving the Lord, playing the guitar, and singing in church. She loved her family, but also her church family just as much. No matter the occasion or mood, she greeted you with a smile it was infectious, just like her laugh. If you came to her house you were going to eat something before you left. She moved to North Carolina to live with her daughter in 2016 to be closer to family. This is where she attended Bethlehem Church of God. Spending the last six years surrounded by her children and grandchildren. When able.. and found willing participants, she loved to play Sorry, Trouble, and Marbles (or as she liked to call it, Marvles). She will be dearly missed, cherished, loved, and remembered always. She has shown a light on all of us and showed us what being a loving Christian should look like. She is preceded in death by her parents Wannie Cline and Vivette Harvey Godfrey.

"In addition to her parent she is preceded in death by her firstborn son Billy Eugene Blankenship, her brothers Larry Godfrey, Danny Ray Cline, Orville “Junior” Godfrey, and Jimmie Woody, and her late husband Walter Lafferty.

"Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 14th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Rev. Jerry McCoy and Rev. Stewart Lankford officiating. She will be laid to rest in Harvey Cemetery, Cedar Creek, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 5-8 pm on Friday, May 13th at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

"Charles Edward Mace, 79, died after a long illness Tuesday Feb. 6, at 9:20 p.m. at his home, 903 Pike St. Parkersburg. A retired farmer, he formerly lived in Wirt County, and attended the Beulah Presbyterian Church. He was born April 14, 1882, in Calhoun County, son of the late Perry and Ellen Nutter Mace. Surviving are the widow, Corba England Mace; five sons, Joseph Edward Mace, Lloyd Curtis Mace and Lester England Mace, all of Parkersburg, William Jack Mace and Daniel Roy Mace, both of Elizabeth; three daughters, Mrs. Lena Mildred Trippett of Glenn Burnie, Md., Mrs. Lady Ruth Scott and Mrs. Patricia Sue Fought, both of Parkersburg; 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services were held at Beulah Presbyterian Church on Friday afternoon conducted by Rev. Albert Pierson of Elizabeth, assisted by the Rev. K.T. Board of Palestine. Burial was in the church cemetery with Pomroy Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

"Mrs. Corba England Mace, 77, of Parkersburg, a former long-time and highly respected Wirt County resident, passed away Wednesday, April 28, at the Christian Anchorage Nursing Home, Marietta, O., following an extended illness. She was born May 3, 1893, in Wyoming County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late William and Nichati Lester England. Mrs. Mace was a member of the Athens, W.Va., Baptist Church. She had resided in the Newark area of Wirt County for many years until 1949 when she moved to Parkersburg. She and her husband, Charles Edward Mace, who preceded her in death, had partially reared and cared for approximately 30 young folks in their home during the years they resided in Wirt County, and the Mace home was a popular visiting place for a multitude of friends of their family members. She is survived by five sons, Joseph, Curtis and Lester Mace, all of Parkersburg, and Jack and Roy Mace, both of Elizabeth; three daughters, Mrs. William (Mildred) Trippett of Glen Burnie, Md., Mrs. Charles (Lady Ruth) Scott, and Mrs. Robert (Patty) Fought, both of Parkersburg; 22 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, April 30, at the Beulah-Humble Memorial Presbyterian Church on Beulah Hill, with the Rev. Irvin Conner officiating. Burial was in the Beulah Cemetery. Mace Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
