"Vallie Loretta Christian Horne, 71, of Raysal, WV, took her final dispatch assignment leaving this world and was ushered into the presence of the Almighty God on Friday, August 26, 2016 at her home.
"Vallie was born December 13, 1944, in Stringtown near Jolo, WV, a daughter of the late Clarence and Ella Leffew Christian. She was a homemaker and a retired EMT from the McDowell County Emergency Ambulance Authority where she had worked for 15 years; while working there she enjoyed ministering to numerous people about God and His peace by song and prayer. She was of the Pentecostal Faith and a song writer for God. She was saved in 1991, and attended the Bradshaw Church of God, the Raysal Assembly of God and the Atwell Assembly of God. She was an ex-navy wife, enjoyed reading, making crafts, and playing games on the computer; she was known by her statement to everyone by "Just Stand."
"In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Rose Christian and Dorothy Lou Riffe, one child, Venarad Anthony Horne, and one nephew, Eric Stacy.
"Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Curtis Edward Horne and wife Donna and Michael Jeffery Horne all of Elizabeth City, NC; three granddaughters, Brittany Horne of Williamsburg, VA, Hannah Horne of Hendersonville, TN and Taylor Horne of Williamsburg, VA; one brother, Eddie Christian and wife Lois of Princeton, WV; one sister, Nancy Fife and husband Thomas of Beckley, WV; a special brother in law, Willard Riffe of Jolo, WV, a special aunt, Chloe Leffew of Raysal, WV; her constant caregiver, Dewey Mullins of the home; a host of nephews and nieces; special friends, Stephanie Pruitt of Atwell, WV, Randal and Loretta Arrington of Raysal, WV, Allen and Susie Shelton-Adams of Bradshaw, WV, and Patty Mitchem Beavers Sutthers of Wytheville, VA; and special cousins, Jackie Lowe of North Carolina, Carol Waldron of Tazewell, VA, and Mary Lou Mitchem of Avondale, WV."Funeral services will be conducted, Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 11 o'clock with Minister Jesse Greenwall and Pastor Dewey Mullins officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, WV.
