"Alda Dora Jordan gained her heavenly wings Sunday the 22nd of November surrounded by love ones. Well known in the Coalwood Community and will be greatly missed by all the lives she touched. Born in Nora, Virginia on October 6, 1923, she was the Daughter of the late Hobart and Callie (Johnson) Long.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband Hobart C. Jordan Jr.; Brothers: James Long, Clinton Long, Ray Long and Bill Long; Sister Mae Hagerman and Son in Law Larry Lightner.Alda resided in Coalwood since 1947 and was of The Baptist Faith. Formerly working as Cook for The Coalwood Club House, The Recreation in Welch and The Country Corner in Coalwood.Survivors include her sons Jerry Lee Jordan and wife Ginger of Berwind, WV; Jerry Wayne Jordan of Princeton, WV; three daughters: Connie Collis & husband Jeff of King, NC, Judy Lightner of Bristol, TN as well as Sandy Smith, a resident of Welch and Special Grandson and Caregiver Jason Freeman of the home at Coalwood; Brothers: Ernest Long of High Point, NC, and Darrell Long of Jolo, WV, as well as her special companion Sadie.Alda was also blessed with an abundance of nine Grandchildren, fifteen Great Grandchildren and eleven Great Great Grandchildren.Private Services for the immediate family will be held Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church in Canebrake, WV.
