James Howard Belcher, I, 69, of Highland Lane, Bastian, VA, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Henrico Doctor’s Hospital in Richmond, VA.
Born on November 30, 1946 in Hemphill, he was a son of the late James P. and Ella Cox Belcher. He had lived in Bastian for 30 years and was of the Pentecostal faith. He was a veteran of the US Marines and was retired from the US Postal Service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Belcher.
Survivors include his wife, Marsha Kish Belcher of the home; daughter, Angela Renee Lindblad and Paul of Ruckersville, V; sons, Joshua Belcher and wife Crystal of Bastian, VA, and James Belcher, II of Christiansburg, VA; 5 grandchildren, Elijah, Carter, Savannah, Lilygrace, and Shaine; brother, Clarence Belcher of Welch; and sister, Linda High of Virginia Beach, VA.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 11:00AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Allen Ashworth officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be performed by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.

"BLUEFIELD — Ella Mae High, 86, of Welch, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010 in Bluefield Regional Medical Center, Bluefield.
Born July 19, 1924 in Hemphill, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charlie Franklin Cox and Lillie May Young Cox. She formerly worked for Peerless Laundry in Welch, Superior Company Store in Superior, and was a retired employee of G. C. Murphy Co. in Welch. She was a charter member of the Trinity Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church, Welch, and was very active in her church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Paris Belcher; her second husband, Harold "Tommy" High; a son, Joe Belcher; three brothers, Charles L. "Buddy" Cox, Carlos Cox and Wilburne Ray Cox; and a sister, Georgia Love.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons, James H. Belcher and wife Marsha of Bastian, Va., and Clarence W. Belcher and wife Barbara of Welch; one daughter, Linda S. High of Virginia Beach, Va.; two stepsons, Michael High Sr. of Virginia Beach, and Tommy High and wife Bena of Raleigh, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Judy Adkins and husband Elmer of Georgia, and Cindy McCarthy and husband Rob of Rochester Hills, Mich.; two sisters, Emmaline Sigmon and husband Bobby of Callaway, Va., and Agnes Sexton of Bluefield, Va.; eight grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
