"HAMPTON - Emma Leona Laxton, 82, died Friday, May 6, 2005. She was born in Davy, W.Va., to the late Jesse and Lula Hall Bishop. She had lived on the Peninsula for 44 years and attended Restoration Church, Phoebus Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. (Chalk) Laxton; three brothers, Dewey Bishop, Lincoln Bishop and Jimmy Bishop; and three sisters, Flora Bishop Helmandollar, Letha Bishop Wright and Ada Bishop Perry. Survivors include her daughter and spouse, Hannah and Bob Matthews of Newport News; four sons and spouses, Warner and Brenda Laxton of Palmetto, Fla., Allen and Becky Laxton of Newport News, Steve Laxton of Hampton and Tim Laxton of Hampton; six brothers, Russell Bishop of Iaeger, W.Va., Ernest Bishop of Davy, W.Va., Donald Bishop of Davy, W.Va., Marion Bishop of Kodiak, Alaska, Jesse Bishop of Dudley, N.C., and Glenn Bishop of Stafford, Va.; three sisters, Lorena Darby of Amuchee, Ga., Dorothy Perry of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Ann Diese of Daytona Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Wendy Laxton, Kevin Laxton, Chris Matthews, Brandon Laxton, Tommy Laxton, Scott Laxton, Mallory Laxton and Breanna Laxton; and six great-grandchildren.
