" MY GRANDAD, “POPPlE” LONG
"l remember an old man l loved so much, my
heart was so sad when God took him above.
This old man that I am talking about, he is
my Granddad, my best friend.
Yes a hat, white shirt and tie he always wore,
when he would visit or just go to the store.
People would come from all around t visit
and talk to my Granddad, my pal.
He was a salesman, he went door to door,
leaving samples and much more.
As a child l remember so well how he would
sit on his front porch in his old rocking chair.
He would tell us stories with a grin on his face.
I love and miss my Granddad in every way.
His name? Levi Long, he lived a long life, he
was 102 when he left us all very blue.
Unfriendly? Never in any way. Always on my
mind you will stay.
You will never know how much you are
missed, by all your children and all the grandkids.
I always think back to the good old days,
talking and laughing and just being with you
from day to day.
I call this old man Poppie, everyone did, and
always remember, Poppie, I love you! Love
your grand kid."
