Bluefield Daily Telegraph"Alfred Ray Martin, 84, of Rutherfordton, N.C., and formerly from Bluefield, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2011 in Rutherfordton.
He was born in Bluefield and was a son of the late Robert Martin and Rachel Combs Martin.
Mr. Martin served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired after 33 years with NASA Space Center in Greenbelt, Md. He was a member of the Electricians Union Representatives with NASA."In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Lee Akers Martin; daughters, Roberta Volant and Deana Sipe. He was also preceded in death by brothers,
Everet Martin, Virgil Martin; and sisters, Myrtle Reiman
Catherine Derr."He is survived by sons, Danny Martin and wife (Rita), Albrightsville, Pa., Barry Martin and wife (Janet), Boonesboro, Md., Terry Martin, Rutherfordton, N.C.;
daughter, Deborah (Smith, Tommy) Martin, Mulberry, Fla.;
