"Pastor Roger D. Stewart, 71, took his first walk on the streets of Glory on Monday, April 30, 2018 at
Raleigh General Hospital. He was born October 19, 1946 in Matheny, WV the son of the late French and Lettie Stewart. Roger began his ministry calling in 1972. He was pastor of several churches throughout the state retiring as Pastor of Campus Church of God at Cyclone. After retiring from being a full time pastor,Roger enjoyed singing with The Harless Family, evangelizing, sitting on the porch and visiting with family and friends. Roger left behind a great legacy and will be greatly missed by many. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Onnie and Gifford; a sister Betty Gail Sigmon; and a nephew Jimmy Sigmon. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years and partner in ministry Brenda Runion Stewart; a son Mark (Cecilia)Stewart of Buckhannon; a daughter Kim (Shawn) Sanders of Kopperston; and a special “adopted” daughter Marlena (Jerry) Graley and her family. He was Popaw to Alexis (Sam) Hanna and Brooke Stewart (friend James) and Pops to Brittany, Jordan, Bryson, Ellie, Dustin, Ashley, Kolby,Hannah, Dustie, Chance, Tara, Joel, Blake, Declan and Charlie. He is also survived by brothers-in-law David (friend Anetta) and Glenn Runion and Jim (Betty) Sigmon; nieces and nephews Karen, Molly, Chloe, Nick, Jessica, Andrew, Colleen, Justin, Joel, Tisha, Dylan, Ricky, Angel and Monroe along with numerous other family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Friday May 4th at the Matheny Church of God, Matheny, WV with Pastor Jerry Graham, Bishop Wayne Wicker and Bishop Daniel Hampton officiating. He will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 6-9PM on Thursday May 3rd and from 11AM until time of services on Friday May 4th at the church. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Fresenius Dialysis and Raleigh General CCU. "Mrs. Carol Sue England Christian 74 of Princeton formerly of Big Sandy passed away Thursday October 24, 2019 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center following a long illness. She was born May 12, 1945 in Kimball to the late William Howard and Hallie Peaks England and was the last surviving member of her family. Carol was a member of Cumberland Road Church of God in Bluefield, and enjoyed crafts, crocheting, and being with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George Christian and several brothers and sisters."Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Kevin Christian and wife Lisa of Princeton, Brian Christian and wife Alisa of Elkin, NC, one daughter Kristen Osborne and husband Mark of Big Sandy, five grandchildren, Jacob, Jonah, and Judah Christian, Miranda Osborne, and Rylee Odle, a special niece Anneliese Underwood.
