"SWORDS CREEK, Va. -- Mr. Memory "Hank" Kennedy, 58, of the Horton Ridge section of Swords Creek, passed away Sunday morning (Nov. 5, 2006) in a Richlands, Va. hospital.
Born Dec. 22, 1947 in Iaeger, he was a son of Louise Collins Kennedy Butler of Cleveland, Ohio, and the late Charlie Kennedy. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a 32nd degree Master Mason in Beni Kedon Lodge in Manning, S.C. and a Shriner."In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Karmella Kennedy.
"In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of 39 years, Edith Kennedy of the home; one daughter, Melinda Anice Crawford and her husband Mark of Martinez, Ga.; two sons, Memory Kennedy Jr. and his wife Lori of Panther, and Charlie Sam H. Kennedy and his wife Becky of Paynesville; nine grandchildren, Keisha Kennedy, Karmella Kennedy, Memory Kennedy III, Mark Crawford Jr., Cara Crawford, Mattthew Crawford, William Butler, Charlie Kennedy Jr., and Michael Elliott Jr.; three sisters, Freda Payne of Yadkinville, N.C., Aniece Kennedy of Cleveland, and Crystal Kennedy of Alabama; six brothers, David Kennedy of Cleveland, Virgil Kennedy of Princeton, Wells Kennedy of Iaeger, George Kennedy of Logan, Sammy Butler and Jimmy Butler, both of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews also survive.
"Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Horse Creek Church of Living God in Horse Creek with the Rev. Granville Mullins and the Rev. Rufus Jewell officiating. Interment will follow in the Kennedy Cemetery at Horse Creek. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
