"Phyllis Marie Steele Pennington Phyllis Marie Steele Pennington, 54, of Rocky Gap, VA, formerly of Iaeger, WV gained her angel wings February 19, 2018 following a long illness. Phyllis was born August 12, 1963 in Welch, WV, a daughter of the late Lark and Virgie Collins Steele. She was a loving mother and homemaker. Her life was her only living son, Phillip. She enjoyed talking on the phone, cooking, and taking road trips when she was able. She loved spending time with her future daughter-in-law, Amber VanGilder, whom she called her "Little Angel." She also loved visiting and having meals with her special friend, Deloris VanGilder and grandson, Dakota. She loved joking around and caring on with her ambulance drivers. She was a kind and loving person, she loved her family dearly. A special thank you goes out to Neil and Sharon Hagerman and Johnny and Teresa Reynolds and their son Joseph Reynolds, for always being there. God bless y'all. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by, her husband, Willie E. Pennington; one son, James Franklin Pennington; and two sisters, Rose Steele and Alice Roberts. Survivors include her son, Phillip Pennington of Rocky Gap, VA; one brother, Richard Allen Steele (Shawn Renea) of Coon Branch; one sister, Mary Steele (Larry) of Panther; nieces, April Mounts, Crystal Hicks, Shanna Powell, Brittany Sexton and Laura Dotson; and nephews Anthony Powell, AJ Steele and Matthew Steele. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, February 25, 2018, at 1 o’clock with Pastor Kevin Richardson and Leonard Mullins officiating at the Mile Branch Church Community Church at Mile Branch. Burial will follow in the Meadows Cemetery at Orchard Branch near Iaeger. ..."

"Waitman S. Brown, 71, of Cyclone, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Friday May 11, 2018 in Bowers
Hospice House, Beckley, WV. He was born on March 23, 1947 in Cyclone, WV, a son of the late Shelby and
Alma Elkins Brown. Waitman enlisted in the Army in 1968 and served two tours in Vietnam. He was a
member of the honor guard and participated in many events including parades and funerals. He loved his
family and friends. He was a member of the choir at Campus Church of God. He loved to sing and play his
harmonicas in church. He was part of the gospel singing group "The Brown Family". He enjoyed fishing,
eating, camping and spending time outdoors. He was very talented at playing many different instruments.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years Shelia Marie Smith Brown; a son Eric (Linda) Brown; a
daughter Shannon (Arron) Fry; grandchildren Nicholas Grimsley, Kristopher and Katelynn Brown, Ezra and
Ella Fry and Zane, Kage, Chailee Jo Reed and Jarrett; His goddaughter Cailey "Sunshine" Lusk; two brothers
Shirley (Zettie) Brown and Bob (Martha) Brown; three sisters Charlotte (Raymond) Curry, Kathy (James
"Bo") Griffin, and Teresa (Bradley) Browning; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral
services will be held at 1PM on Tuesday May 15th at the Campus Church of God, Cyclone, WV with Rev.
Chelsey Noel and Bro. Jimmy Frazier officiating. He will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny,
WV. Friends may gather with the family from 5-8PM on Monday May 14th at the church. The Wyoming
County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct Military Rites. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to
Bowers Hospice House. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV."
