"Mrs. Henry Alger, aged about 35 years, died in a State sanitorium, near Richmond on Saturday."She had been an inmate at the institution for some time and had been ill for a year or more with tuberculosis.
"Her body was brought here on Sunday. Before her marriage she was a Miss. Woodward, and was born in the Blue ridge, above Ida.
"She is survived by her husband, her parents, and the following children, James, Early, Jessie, Bessie, Ellis, John, Samuel, David, Paul, and one child quite young.
"Her burial took place Sunday in Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. P.E. Shultz, of the Episcopal church in charge of the services."

"Hazel Keaton Payne, 91, of English, WV, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019 in Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, WV, with her family by her side."Hazel was born August 8, 1927 in War, WV, a daughter of the late Burns and Polly Dunford Keaton and granddaughter of the late Lizzie Dunford Toton. She loved her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gospel and bluegrass music, little children, animals, baby dolls and gardening. Hazel was a member of the Yukon Pentecostal Holiness Church and loved the Lord. Over the years she enjoyed going to other churches and enjoyed their services.
"In addition to her parents and grandmother Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Payne; one son, Robert Payne Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Rosia Payne; and several sisters and brothers.
"Survivors include three daughters, Goldie Griffith and husband, Reverend Lacy Griffith of English, WV, Lucy Blakley and husband Curtis of Smyra, DE, Brenda Adams and companion Eddie Blakley of English, WV; three sons, Kenneth Payne, Danny Payne and Charlie Payne Sr. all of English, WV; a grandson, whom she helped raise, Charlie Payne, Jr of Tazewell, VA; two daughters-in-law, Polly Payne and Donna Payne; 23 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren; one brother, Steve Keaton of St. Pauls, NC; and one sister, Lill Payne of Delaware.
"The celebration of the life of Hazel Payne will be held from 6 p.m. till 11 p.m. on Thursday evening, February 21, 2019 at the Yukon Pentecostal Holiness Church at Yukon, WV. and Friday, February 22, 2019 from 12 p.m. till 1 p.m. Following this celebration of life Hazel will be buried in the Payne Cemetery at Bandy, VA beside her husband, Robert Lee Payne and son Robert Payne Jr. Officiating these services will be Reverend Lacy Griffith and Reverend Pete Woods. Hazel’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. ..."
