"Virginia worked various retails jobs throughout her life but her favorite job by far, was that of a nurse. She absolutely loved helping others and wasn’t content until she knew that everyone was taken care of.

"Arnold W. Harless, 86, of Clear Fork, W.Va., entered into his new life on July 9, 2015, at Raleigh General Hospital.

"Born September 13, 1928, he was the son the late Roy and Berchie Allen Harless of Hanover, W.Va. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Hassell "Pete" Harless of Lebanon, Va., and Bernard Harless of Welch, W.Va.

"He spent his life in service to others as a husband, father, grandfather, church pastor and educator.

"Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Zenith Harless of Clear Fork; daughters, Carolyn and husband, Cameron Hatfield of Clear Fork and Pamela and husband, Don Garrett of Pineville; and two grandchildren, Matthew Hatfield of Fairmont and Megan Hatfield of Hamlin.

"Arnold was a devout Christian and a member of the Baileysville Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School teacher, Devotion Leader, and Interim Pastor. He also served as Pastor of the Hanover Missionary Baptist Church for 13 years. Arnold was active in the Rockcastle Association serving as Association Moderator, and he represented the Rockcastle Association as a delegate to the West Virginia Baptist Convention at Green Lake, Wisconsin for six years.

"He served as a Counter Intelligence Officer for the army during the Korean War.

"He was a member of the Pineville Masonic Lodge No. 138, where he recently received his 50 year membership pin.

"Arnold was a graduate of Concord College and West Virginia University. He began his teaching career at Huff Consolidated Elementary School in 1950, the first year the school opened. He served Wyoming County Schools with 59 years of service. He spent 11 years as a classroom teacher at Huff Consolidated Elementary School, Oceana High School and Baileysville High School. He spent 17 years as a Secondary School Administrator in the role of Assistant Principal at Baileysville High School, Principal of Pineville High School and Principal of Baileysville High School. He was Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools for 8 years. He served as an elected member of the Wyoming County Board of Education for 23 years.

"He was very dedicated to the school system of Wyoming County making sure that all students received the best education possible. He served Wyoming County Schools during the construction of several new schools. He was very devoted to all county schools, but he was especially proud to be instrumental in the development of the new Huff Consolidated Elementary and Middle School where he began his teaching career.

"The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday July 12, at the Evans Funeral Home in Oceana.

"Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday July 13, at the Evans Funeral Chapel in Oceana with the Rev. Jackie Lester and Kevin Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens in Matheny. Pallbearers will be Mack Profit, Morris Davis, Huey Miller, Barry Davis, Darrick Stacy, Mackie Cline, and Tracey Cline.

Zenith Faye Walker Harless, 89, of Clear Fork, WV, suddenly entered her new life on June 19, 2018.
Born May 7, 1929, at Christian, WV, she was the daughter of the late Verlin and Tressie Blankenship Walker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold W. Harless; brothers, Herman Walker of Morgantown, WV, and Zionel Walker of Justice, WV; and her sister, Sylvia Murphy of Inverness, FL.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Carolyn and husband Cameron Hatfield of Clear Fork, and Pamela and husband Don Garrett of Pineville; two grandchildren, Matthew Hatfield of Fairmont, WV, and Megan Hatfield of Hamlin, WV; sisters, Rita (Ed) Anderson of Mobile, AL, and Sheila (Richard) Darlington of Melbourne, FL; and several niece and nephews.
Zenith was a devout Christian and a member of the Baileysville Baptist Church where she was active in the church choir and American Baptist Women. She was also dedicated and had close ties to the Hanover Missionary Baptist Church where her husband, Arnold, was pastor for 13 years. She was very supportive of the West Virginia Baptist Convention and the Rockcastle Baptist Association. She served on the nominating committee for the Rockcastle Baptist Association since 2001, she was elected to the West Virginia Baptist Convention Executive Board as the Rockcastle Baptist Association representative in 2016 and was a member of the Leadership Commission as a part of that board. She served as Clerk and Treasurer of the Rockcastle Association from 1988 to 1994 and then served as Assistant Clerk from 1994 to present. Throughout the years, she was very devoted to the Love Gift Program and held leadership positions with the American Baptist Women.
Zenith was a member of the Eastern Star and was a founding member of Alpha Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International for women educators.
She proudly served as President of the Wyoming County branch of the West Virginia Association of Retired School Employees.
Zenith was a graduate of Gilbert High School and Marshall University. The early years of her teaching career took her to Ben Creek Elementary and Gilbert Elementary in Mingo County and in Wyoming County to Huff Consolidated, Coal Mountain Elementary and Baileysville Elementary School where she spent 31 years until her retirement from the school system.
Zenith was very dedicated to her family. After losing her Mother, she became the matriarch of the family. She had close ties with her siblings, nieces and nephews. She loved to travel, shop, cook, work crossword puzzles and always enjoyed keeping in touch with her family and friends. She was extremely dedicated to her daughters and their husbands and she was the world to her grandchildren, as they were to her.

"Kyle Edward Harris, 49, of 250 Harley Lane, Danville, died, Monday, August 15, 2011 at Danville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Harris was born on May 5, 1962, in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, the son of Charles Henry Harris and Peggy Lou Brewster Harris. He had worked for the City of Danville Public Works Department, and was of the Baptist faith. He was also a Charter member of the Dan River Angler Association, and a former member of Bachelors Hall Vol. Fire Department. Survivors include his daughter, Amanda Hicks, and a son, Kyle Brandon Harris, all of Danville, four brothers, Charles Harris, Jr., Gary Harris, Timmy Harris, and Mark Harris, and a sister, Lisa Harris, a grandson, Daniel Alexander Hicks and former wife Debbie Farmer Harris and special friend Karen Barbour. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. from the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel conducted by the Rev. Robert Vermillion. The family will receive friends immediately following the service and there will also be a special gathering at the home of his brother, Gary Harris at 105 Walker place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is serving the Harris family.
