"James Virgil Farmer, age 88, died February 24, 2012 in Clarksburg, WV, at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center. He was born August 15, 1923, in Page, WV, the ninth and last surviving child of the late William A. and Susan McElyea Farmer.

"Formerly of Man and then Ona, WV, Mr. Farmer had been a resident at the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg for the past year.

"He was also preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Madeline Anderson Farmer; his son-in-law, Jerry Hill.

"He was a member of Barboursville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, and for many years was a member of Mallory Baptist Church where he served as Song Leader, Adult Sunday School Teacher and member of the Deacon Board. He sang bass in both choirs of Barboursville and Mallory Baptist Churches. He served on the Executive board of the West Virginia Baptist Convention and on the National Board of American Baptist Churches. He was a graduate of Oak Hill High School, attended Beckley College and was a graduate of Toledo Barber College. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army Corps of Engineers in Italy. After working as a barber for many years in Man, he retired as a Nationwide Insurance agent. He was active in the Man Rotary Club in which he had served as president and sergeant at arms, was a former member of the Milton Rotary Club and was also a Paul Harris Fellow. He had been a member of the Logan County Emergency Ambulance Service Authority. He was a proud member of the Democrat Party.

"He is survived by his daughter, Nina Farmer-Hill of Huntington, WV; his son, John Farmer and his wife, Jo Carol, of Bridgeport, WV; a granddaughter, Susan Stone and her husband, Aaron, of Huntington, WV; two grandsons, James Hill and his wife, Megan and Isaac Farmer, all of Bridgeport, WV; a great granddaughter, Isabella Stone of Huntington, WV.

"Madeline Ruth Anderson Farmer, 81, of Ona, West Virginia, died on October 27, 2006. Born November 3, 1924 in Newhall, W. Va., she was the daughter of the late William N. and Grace Perry Anderson. She formerly resided in Man, W. Va. She was preceded in death by Her brothers, William N. Anderson, Jr., and Russell Corwin Anderson, and her son-in-law, Jerry W. Hill.

"Surviving Mrs. Farmer are her husband of fifty-nine years, James V. Farmer, her daughter, Nina Farmer-Hill, Chapmanville, her son and daughter-in-law, John and Jo Carol Farmer, Bridgeport, her granddaughter, Susan Hill, Chapmanville, and her fiancé, Aaron Stone, Huntington, her grandsons, James Hill, Chapmanville, and Isaac Farmer, Bridgeport, her sisters-in-law, Hallena Anderson, Justice Addition, Elva Farmer, Beckley, Betty Farmer, Point Pleasant, and Nona Toler, Davin, numerous nieces and nephews.

"Mrs. Farmer was a member of the Barboursville Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was active in the PEP Club and American Baptist Women. "Visitation will be held at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, Wednesday, November 1, 2006 from 6to9 PM and after 10:00 am Thursday at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at the Barboursville Baptist Church officiated by Mrs. Farmer’s pastor and friend, the Reverend Craig Coster. The graveside service will follow at 3:00 pm at Highland Memory Gardens, Chapmanville."

"James Edward Rowe, 74, of Lower Long Pole near Panther, WV, passed away, Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in Princeton Community Hospital following a short illness.

"James was born in Iaeger, WV, January 13, 1947 a son of the late Lona Bell Horn. He was a retired coal miner and loved being outdoors. He enjoyed working in his garden, riding his four-wheeler, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by his wife and family.

"In addition to his mother, Lona Bell Horn, James was preceded in death by a sister, Joann Owens.

"Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, of 48 years, Etta Me Rowe of the home; one son, Randy Rowe and wife Stella of Lower Long Pole; three daughters, Donetta Bailey of Lower Long Pole, Jamie Toler and husband Brandon of Justice, and Crystal Coleman and fiancé Blake Morgan of Lower Long Pole; six grandchildren, James (Bubby) Bailey, Cody Bailey, Tyler Lester, Brandon Rowe, Bradley Coleman and Makayla Coleman; two great grandchildren, Jimmy and Arayah Bailey; sister, Martha Mae Walker and husband Terry (Peewee) Walker and a half sister, Rita Miller; a special friend Steven Coleman of Bull Creek and a host of additional friends.

"Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 24, 2021 at 12 o’clock with Reverend Danny Bowles officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger. Burial will in the Bailey Cemetery on Lower Long Pole near Panther, WV.

"Friends may visit with the family Saturday evening, January 23, 2021 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger.
