"Born in McDowell County, he was the son of the late Dave C. and Mae McGuire Mullins. He was a lifelong resident of McDowell County, a member of Worldwide Church of God and a coal miner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William Arnold Mullins; three sisters, Lottie Degner, Mildred Payne and Tilda Viers; and three step-brothers, Burl, Burton and Clarence Stacy.
"He is survived by his wife, Georgia Mullins; three daughters, Mrs. Charlie (Phyllis) Johnson of Paynesville, Debra Hagerman Mullins of Abingdon and Mrs. Raymond, Jr. (Robin Kimberly) Stacy of Raleigh, NC; two sons, Richard Kennith Mullins and wife, Amanda, of Wilmington, NC and Joseph Mullins and wife, Billie Jean, of Jewell Ridge; five brothers, Tom and Mack Mullins of Paynesville, Elza Mullins of Grundy, James Mullins of Logan, WV and John Mullins of Denton, NC; six sisters, Rebecca Sue Payne of Paynesville, Jacqueline Hess of Hurley, Melda Addair of Abingdon, Agnes Tilton of Welch, WV, Patricia Toler of Hanover, WV and Valorie Justus of Hillsville; one step-brother, Berkley Stacey of Ohio; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews"
