"She was born January 28, 1928 in War, WV. She lived in Welch until she moved to Portage, MI to live with her niece Mary Louise and her nephew Patrick on West Lake.
"Mary graduated from Welch High School in 1945. She worked at several businesses and then worked at Stevens Clinic Hospital for 26 years as the admitting clerk. While there she received the Employee of the Year Award given by the Welch Chamber of Commerce in 1983. In 1988 she received the Employee of the Month Award from Stevens Clinic Hospital.
"Mary was preceded in death by her parents Roger and Louise (Ruggero and Luigia) Basso; five brothers, Joe, John, Leno, Louis and Nick; and her only sister Irma Basso Caporal.

"Walter F. Riley Sr. 75, 402 Hanover St., Gettysburg, died Saturday evening at The Gettysburg Hospital. He was born in Smithsburg. Md., son of the late Simon and Emma Walter Riley. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church. An employee of the Hoke-Wood Furniture Company in Thurmont. Md.. for a number of years, he retired in 1975. He had also been employed at the Gettysburg Furniture Company. He was a veteran of World War II. serving with the U.S. Army. He belonged to the Gettysburg Eagles.He is survived by his wife. Pauline Shultz Riley; four children. Barbara J. Andrews. Hunterstown-Hamptor, Road. Gettysburg: Walter F. Riley Jr.. 402 Hanover St.. Gettysburg; Sandra A. Davis. Waynesboro; and Donna M. Yohe.
