"Mary Basso went to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Thursday afternoon, August 2, 2018 in Kalamazoo, MI.
"She was born January 28, 1928 in War, WV. She lived in Welch until she moved to Portage, MI to live with her niece Mary Louise and her nephew Patrick on West Lake.
"Mary graduated from Welch High School in 1945. She worked at several businesses and then worked at Stevens Clinic Hospital for 26 years as the admitting clerk. While there she received the Employee of the Year Award given by the Welch Chamber of Commerce in 1983. In 1988 she received the Employee of the Month Award from Stevens Clinic Hospital.
"Mary was preceded in death by her parents Roger and Louise (Ruggero and Luigia) Basso; five brothers, Joe, John, Leno, Louis and Nick; and her only sister Irma Basso Caporal.
"She is survived by her sister-in-law Lillian Kim Basso, and several other nieces and nephews. She also left behind her two “fur-babies” (cats!), Suni who loved to sit on her lap, and Toni.
"A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted Wednesday, August 8 at 10 a.m. in St. Peter Catholic Church with Rev. (Tony) Luis Anthony Lacson officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell...."
