"He was born September 9, 1928 in Aurora.
"Jerry was raised in Aurora, attending St. Nicholas School and Marmion Military Academy, where he graduated in 1946. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for three years.
"After the army he moved to Chicago and enrolled in the DeForest Radio & Television School and became a TV repairman.
"He briefly worked at Raytheon and Admiral before going to work for Aldens where he was employed for 25 years.
"While in Chicago, he met Thelma Arrington.
"They were married November 2, 1959. There only child Betty Ann was born in 1963
"In his younger years, Jerry was an avid bowler.
"A highlight for him was when he won an award for converting the 7-10 split.
"Later in life he enjoyed his annual fishing trips to Minnesota with family and friends.
"He was also a consummate Chicago Cubs fan.
"Survivors include his daughter, Betty Ann (Duane) Fox of Woodridge; five sisters, Jean McClernon, Norma Kleinfieldt, Joyce Wondrak, Anita Billen all of Aurora and Elaine Kramer of Johnson City, TN and be several nieces and nephews.
"He was preceded in death by his wife Thelma and his parents, Adam "Ed" and Margaret (Biers) Billen.
"Jerry was a wonderful, loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was loved by everyone and will truly be missed.
"Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 26 at 11:30 a.m. at the Daleiden High Street Mortuary.
"Father David R. Engbarth will officiate with interment in St. Joseph cemetery.
