"Floyd Thomas Asbury, age 85, of Berkeley Springs, WV, died on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Winchester Medical Center."Born April 3, 1928 in Squire, WV, he was the son of the late Thomas Perry and Vadie McCoy Asbury.
"He was a member of Wesleyan Chapel in Berkeley Springs. Floyd was a graduate of Big Creek High School in War, WV and had worked as a railroad trackman. He was a devoted volunteer and fundraiser at South Morgan Volunteer Fire Department. Floyd liked all sports and enjoyed hunting, fishing, crossword puzzles and especially his iPad.
"He is survived by his dear friend and companion, Dorothy Lee Luttrell of Berkeley Springs and many nieces and nephews.
"In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Edna Merchant Asbury on January 7, 2005, four sisters, Ethel Neely, Evelyn Neely, Irene Asbury and Cleo Cobbold and four brothers, Roscoe Allen Asbury, Sr., James Asbury, Marvin Asbury and Donald Asbury.
"Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 23, 2013 at Wesleyan Chapel, Harrison Avenue and Vernon Street, Berkeley Springs, WV where friends may call from 2-3 p.m. The Rev. William C. Swope will officiate. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Church Cemetery.
