He was a retired railroad conductor for Norfolk Southern Railroad and a former mayor of Iaeger. He was the last surviving member of his original family.

Edna was the daughter of the late Zeff and Lucille Runyon Jarrett and born in Gary on April 28, 1924. She was a beloved wife and home maker."In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Elmer Bryant; infant daughter, Carolyn Bryant; two brothers: Joe Jarrett and Jessie Jarrett, as well as three sisters: Betty Day, Eva Biggs and Pauline Walker.
"Edna was a life-long resident of Thorpe – Gary, West Virginia area and member of the Wilcoe Church of God for approximately 70 years. Edna loved her flower garden and shared generously with all of her neighbors and anyone else who asked. She served as President of The Ladies’ Auxiliary of her church and became known in Welch by her baked goods. Edna also taught Sunday School and was well loved by children and their parents. She will be missed by her family, friends, church family and community.
