"Hobert Nelson Morgan, 87 of Ararat, NC, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Joan &
Howard Woltz Hospice Home, in Dobson, NC. He was born in Wyoming Co. West Virginia on May 10, 1931
to the late Maloney and Arminta Morgan. He was a retired Coal Miner and a veteran of the US Army and
of the Baptist faith. In addition, he was preceded in death by a daughter Sharon Morgan, one deceased
sister, and eleven deceased brothers. Surviving are his wife, Leona Toler Morgan of the home; three
step-daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Jeffery Cline, Angela and Ted Niday, Kristia Beasley; two
sons, Gary Morgan, Richard Morgan; two step-sons and their wives, Glenn and Marilyn Whittington,

"It is with our broken hearts that we share the passing of our special family member Jerry Lee “Dick” Fortner, 86, of Rockhouse, WV. He passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Welch Community Hospital, Welch, WV. He was born on July 20, 1938 to the late Wannie and Iline Boothe Fortner in Davin, WV and eventually moved to Baileysville (Rockhouse), WV. He was the loving husband of Carol Fortner, who was his soul mate for 63 years. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman. He loved deer hunting and fishing. He had just finished building his deer stand on the ground looking so forward for a new hunting season. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers Gene, Charles, Paul, Connie, and James Fortner, also a little dog Brownie that belong to his niece. Those left to miss him and cherish his memory include his loving wife Carol , whom he dated for two years and was married for 61 beautiful years, a brother Joe of Brenton, a sister Susie from Cumberland Furnace, TN, a special cousin Nicky Fortner, who he loved like a brother, and was his hunting and fishing buddy as to which their last fishing trip not too long ago consisted of them going to Horse Creek Lake and the boat turning over and one was under the boat while the other was trying to climb on top of the boat pinning the other under it. Neither one of them could swim. But thankfully some people on the bank seen what was happening and went out and rescued them, this making them a very special memory that they could laugh about and cherish. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends who loved him very much. Funeral service will be at 1 pm on Tuesday, November 5th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Pastor Christopher Riffe and Bishop Russell King officiating. He will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 11 am until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV."
