"Archie Porter, Jr., 66, of Cedar Creek, WV passed away on Thursday February 7, 2019 in
Pikeville Medical Center. He was born March 10, 1952 in Holden, WV, a son of the late Archie
and Lula Canterbury Porter, Sr. Archie was a very kind hearted man always ready to help
anyone in need. He loved fishing and hunting, and won the WV Big Buck Award in 1993 for
the buck he got that year. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his
grandparents Tan and Mariah Hall Canterbury and Pearly and Cordy Amburgey Porter;
sisters Dora Lee "Tooky" Porter, Wanda Lee Rakes and Janet Louise Osborne; brothers Glen
Alvis Porter and Carl David Porter. Survivors include his daughter Angie Maxwell and
husband Sean of Lebanon, OH; four grandchildren Grace, Emma, Evan and Ethan; a great
grandchild Aubrey; his companion of fifteen years Barbara Blackburn of Cedar Creek and her
children Bobbie Jo Toler, Jennifer Porter, Sophie Rye and Dakota "Curley" Hurley and their
grandchildren Kierstin Toler, Anthony Toler, Brody Porter and McKinlee Porter, all of which
he helped raise as his own; two sisters Judy Ann Porter of Chapmanville and Marsha Mae
Messer and husband Donnie of Paoli, IN; a brother Billy Jo Porter of Davin; sister in law
Melba Porter of Davin; his best friend Sugar his dog; and a host of other loving family and
friends. Funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM Tuesday February 12, 2019 in the Chapel of

She loved my mother like her own. She had a heart full of love for everybody. Mother's Daddy was Tuscko Thomas Stillwell. He and wife split when Mother was 3 yrs. old. Tuscko took Mother, wife took another girl, Doris. They were never heard from again. My sister found Doris in Ohio while doing a search of our maternal family in 2011. Mother graduated Big Creek High. She married Daddy at age 21, he was 35. ..."
