"Born August 1, 1925 at Keystone, (Burke Mountain), he was the son of the late Benjamin H. and Ethel Corrine Belcher Scott. He was a retired mine foreman from Eastern Associated Coal, Keystone No. 1 after 36 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II and was affiliated with the Protestant faith. He was a lifelong resident of Burke Mountain. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack Johnson, Junior Johnson and an infant brother, and one sister, Dora Scott.
"Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Velma Angel Scott of the home; five sons, Larry Scott, Jerry Edward Scott, Johnny Scott and wife, Brenda, and Gary Scott and wife Marti, all of Keystone, and Mark Scott and wife Anna of Sandlick; one daughter, Barbara Rhodes of Poca-Putnam Co; two brothers, Don Scott of Keystone and Charles Scott of Fayette, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

"Born Dec. 27, 1927 in Kanawha County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Inez Angel. She was a member of the burke Baptist Church, Keystone, where she will always be rememebered as a reat pryer warrior. She was a graduate of Northfork High School, she was a homemaker, was a residen of Burke Mountain most of her life, and was loved by everyone who knew her.
"Other tha her parents, she was proceded in death by her husband of 49 yrs, Benjamin "Payton" Scott on Oct. 27 1997; one son Jerry Edward Scott on 11 Apr 2006; one sister, Frances Green; and a daughter-in-law, Brenda Scott.
