"PRINCETON — Ted Lawrence Pendry Sr., 93, of Pendry Lane, Princeton, died peacefully Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Princeton Community Hospital. Ted was a retired coal miner with 30 years of service having worked for Hawley Fuel in Landgraff and also worked for Pepsi Bottling in Princeton. Ted was a member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church for over 50 years and had sung in the church choir. While his health permitted, Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his garden and doing wood working projects.Born April 11, 1920, in Key Rock, WV, he was the son of the late William Morgan Pendry (1878-1934) & Endora "Dora" Green-Pendry-Cozart (1886-1983). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Sherald "Gene" Pendry (1942-2012); a granddaughter, Sheri Lyn Pendry (1969-1969); and siblings, William Morgan Pendry (1893-1979), Vida Pendry-Halsey (1917-2006), Ada Pendry-Bower (Deceased), Bud Pendry (Deceased), Effie Pendry-Sheriff (Deceased), Flora Pendry-Cook (Deceased), Herbert Pendry (Deceased), Lacy Pendry (Deceased), Lettie Pendry-Stewart (Deceased), Maude Pendry, Robert Pendry (Deceased), Sadie Pendry-Bowers (Deceased), Virgil Pendry (Deceased), & Walter Pendry (Deceased).
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 73 years, Lucille Stewart-Pendry (1922-2014) whom he married on October 31, 1941 in New Richmond, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1941, Page 140, Application Date: May 28, 1941); two sons, Ted Lawrence Pendry Jr. and wife Elizabeth Pendry of Princeton, James Pendry and wife Colleen Pendry of Lexington, VA; a daughter, Mary Lee Pendry-Easter and husband Kenneth Easter of Clearmont, FL; daughter-in-law, Linda Pendry of Princeton; a brother, Frank T. Pendry (B. 1929) of Matheny; eight grandchildren, Skip Easter, Tim Easter, Chuck Pendry, Larry Pendry, Kevin Pendry, Marshall Pendry, Tammy Easter and Amy Goode; sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
We will celebrate the life of Ted Lawrence Pendry Sr. Thursday, 11:00 a.m., October 31, 2013 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road with Pastor Bob Boozer officiating. Burial will follow in the Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny."
