"Dawn Michelle Bowles Blankenship 47, of Beckley born January 31, 1972, was taken from this earth suddenly on July 5, 2019. She was the daughter of Ernest "Pete" and Mary Prater of Tazwell, VA.
"She was preceded in death by her biological father John Bowles, her 2 son's Cody Hanibal Blankenship, and Dillon Kyle Blankenship, her partner of 13 years Craig Hargis, her maternal grandparents William and Pearl Keen, Paternal Grandparents Richard and Annabelle Bowles, the grand father to her children L.E. Blankenship, her grandmother Herma Prater, and her cousin Lea Shawn Sizemore, and her beloved furbaby Momma Misty."She leaves behind her son Dalton Tyler Blankenship of Tazwell, and his father Richard H. Blankenship, 2 brothers Douglas Scott Prater and his wife Sabrina, and Kenneth Ray Prater and his wife Rocio, her sister Vonda Lynn Prater Davis, her grandson Bently Tyler Blankenship, and the grandmother to her children Gracie Blankenship, and many uncles, aunts, and countless friends who loved her dearly and will miss her every day. Dawn lived life to the fullest as if every day were her last. She loved children and animals. She never passed up an opportunity to make someone smile. She had great compassion for the elderly and enjoyed caring for others. I think if Dawn was here, she would say to us, "If there ever is a tomorrow when we're not together, there is something you must remember. You're braver than you believe and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even when we are apart, I will always be with you".
"Services will be 3:00pm Friday July 12, 2019 in the chapel of Evans-Calfee in Pineville with Pastor Scottie Cline, and Rev. Jamie Prater officiating. Following the service she will be laid to rest in the Blankenship cemetery Clear Fork.
"Friends may gather with the family from 2:00pm until service time Friday. "
