"Jerry Roger Turner, 76, of Avondale, WV, went to be with the Lord October 8, 2014,at his home following a long battle with cancer."Roger was born March 14, 1938, in McDowell County, WV, a son of the late Reverend William G. "Bill" Turner (1911-1993) and Pearl June "Dove" Turner (1913-2008). He was a retired coal miner and a member of the U.M.W.A. for 40 years. He was a heavy equipment operator at the Blue Boy Preparation Plant near Bradshaw, WV. for 28 years of his coal industry career. He was also a pin-machine operator and an electrician for U. S. Steele at Gary WV.
"Roger served his country very proudly in the U.S. Army, 29th Infantry, Fort Benning, GA from 1962-1964. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, camping, gardening, farming, and riding his four wheeler. He also enjoyed antique cars, and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a Christian and affiliated with the Pentecostal Holiness Faith.
"In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Walter Bishop (1895-1962) and Ruthie Bell-Bishop (1907-1960); six brothers-in-law, and five sisters-in-law, Willard "Bud" Bishop (Deceased) and Beulah Mae Bishop (Deceased), Troy Bishop (1928-Deceased) and Flossie Bishop (1935-1983), Floyd Lowery (Deceased), Mae Bishop-Lowery (Deceased), Conley Bishop (Deceased) and Georgia Bishop (Deceased), Mr. and Mrs. Lonzo Stiltner (Deceased) and Zona Bishop-Stiltner (Deceased), and Hassell E. He was a heavy equipment operator for the department of highways, Iaeger, WV. He worked as a foreman in construction work for many years. Among his many talents he was a very skilled carpenter. Dickie was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt with his son, Chris. He also loved camping with his wife, Tammie and spending time with his family. Dickie was a Christian who loved the Lord.

"It is with a sad heart that I write the obituary of my beloved mother, Nancy Alafare Mullins. Mother was born December 4, 1870 at Bud, W.Va., and departed this life on January 15. 1953, making her stay on earth 82 yrs, 1 month and 11 days."She was united in marriage to Richard Mullins and to this unioun were born 11 children. Papa and five children preceded her in death. She then married J.J. Barnett in her later years. She leaves Mr Barrett, six children, 31 grandchildren, 18 great granchildren, besides a host of friends to mourn her loss, but we feel our loss in Heaven's gain.
"She joined the Old Regular Baptist Church at an early age and I believe that she had lived a Christian life 55 years. She lived the life as long as we can remember. Her heart's desire was to go to church and always filled her seat there when able to go.
"Our greatest of thanks go to Elder Joseph Wood and wife for the kindness they showed in taking her to church with them.
"Today that seat is vacant in church and at home. She bore her sickness with patience and I feel that Mother is happy with Papa. They were are where all their sickness, trials and troubles are over, nothing but joy and happiness for them throughout eternity. I can't begin to tell you how great the loss of Mother is for no one could ever take her place and to all of the children and Mr. Barnett. If we ever See Mother again we must live the life she lived before us and that is clean, Holy, consecrated Life."
