"Born April 8, 1938 in Yukon she was the daughter of the late Joel Ray and Pearl Honaker Ray. She attended Big Creek High School in War, and served as City Recorder for the town of War for over 19 years.
"In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Millard Lee Deel; two sons, Ronald Lee Deel and David Wayne Deel; two sisters, Florine Richardson and Margaret Boyd; and five brothers, Chester, Billy, Estel, Jimmy and Lawrence Ray.

"She was born at Bottom Creek, WV to the late James Overton Stanley and Mattie Frith Stanley on February 14, 1924.
"She was affectionately called "Valentine" as a child.
"During her early years in McDowell County, she worked in several of the company stores and enjoyed her hobbies of skating and swimming.
"She was a prayer warrior and active in her husband's ministry of over 60 years. She was a member of the two churches her husband founded: Lilly Grove Community Church in Princeton, WV and Carswell Community Church in Carswell, WV.
"She loved the Lord and her love showed through to everyone who knew her and in the poems and songs she wrote. She cherished her family and thrived on teaching each of her children that God should be the center of their lives.
"She was preceded in death by her first husband, Benjamin Franklin Dunford, Sr., in 1945. Then, in 2014, her husband of 65 years, Reverend Douglas Calvin Williams, Sr., passed away, and in that same year her oldest son, Benjamin Franklin Dunford, Jr., tragically passed away. Her nine siblings also preceded her death.
"She is survived by her children who adored her: Peggy Dunford Mitchell of Church Hill, TN, Sharon Williams of Princeton, WV, Doug Williams, Jr. and wife Janis of Beckley, WV, and Rena Hall and husband Rick of Princeton, WV; cherished daughter-in-law, Janice Cross Dunford of Memphis, TN and her precious sister-in-law, Mary Louise Stanley of Fairview, TN. Other survivors include her grandchildren: Jeff Mitchell, Jennifer Stoner, Nikki Beasley, Ashley Williams, Aaron Williams, Allison Williams, Jessica Basham and Amanda Shrewsbury. Also, 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and special friends: Margaret Shrewsberry, Kari Shrewsbury and Becky Williams.
