home. He was born on March 11, 1936 in Huff Creek, WV a son of the late Frank and Lear Lester Rose. In
addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife Audry Rose; five sisters Elsie Moss, Mae
Nester, Helen Morgan, Ann Lacy and Agnes Hurley; and a brother Burl Rose. Survivors include his loving
wife of seven years Clarie Johnson Rose; three daughters Patricia Rife of Johnson City, TN, Tammy Smith
of Fanrock and Sharon (Robert) Butcher of Sevierville, TN; a son Leonard Rose of Fanrock; a sister Juanita

She was born on June 17, 1956 in Grundy, VA a daughter of the late Ralph and Gracie Lambert Dotson. She was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, teacher, Christian and friend. She was loved and cared for by her husband of 39 years, Tim Chafin. She was blessed to raise three children, Heaven Lynn, John Paul and Christopher Ray Chafin."In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her in-laws Willis and Betty Chafin; her brother Chuck Dotson; and sister-in-law Judy Hatfield.

"Vickie is a 1974 graduate of Iaeger High School and a graduate of Concord University. While at Concord she was an active member of Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority. Vickie continued her education attaining a Master’s Degree in Communications and Administration from West Virginia University. Vickie was employed by McDowell County Schools for 36 years as a kindergarten and Pre-school teacher, retiring in 2014. She was a natural teacher from a young age, she gathered her younger siblings around her to read books and play school. She took great pride in her job as a teacher molding the young minds of her students and instilling the love of reading. Every holiday was celebrated in her classroom. She made sure the children felt special and was very proud that former students came to visit her and / or sent cards thanking her for being such a positive role model for them. Vickie was involved in her community and church. She volunteered with the public library to start a children’s story hour. As a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church, she created a children’s program. Her weekly lesson taught the children about the Bible in a fun, easy to understand way. She was a member and officer of the GFWC Iaeger Junior Women’s Club for many years. Vickie, in her youth, had been a member of the Rainbow Girls and valued the experience of being part of a community service group, which led her to establishing a similar group, the Juniorett’s. Vickie enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, party planning and traveling. She was a dedicated and fierce protector of her family, friends and animals. Her husband and she were foster parents and enjoyed providing a safe and loving home for children. She had wonderful neighbors and friends, too numerous to mention. She loved animals, especially her service dog Nikki. She will be fondly remembered by all that knew her for her independent spirit, candor, spunk and love for teaching.
"Funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm on Thursday December 31st at the Calvary Baptist Church, Iaeger, WV with Pastor Arble Morgan and Pastor Daniel Dean officiating. She will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 11:30 am until time of service on Thursday at the church. "Iaeger-- Willis Wilson Chafin, 63 from Iaeger died Saturday in a Bluefield hospital.
"Born at Red Jacket in Mingo County, he was a retired railroad employee and a veteran of the Korean
War. He was a member of the Welch Church of Christ. He was the son of the late Andrew Jackson
Chafin and Sadie Bacus Chafin of Beech Creek.
"He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
"Survivors include two daughters, Judy Lynn Hatfield of Gary and Beverly Chafin of Iaeger; two sons
Stanley Chafin of Josephine, and Timothy Chafin of Iaeger; one brother , two sisters and four
