"Mary Barna Eastone, 89, of St. Albans, died peacefully Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Patty Eastone. She was born Jan. 30, 1915, in Bluefield, W.Va., a daughter of Michael and Mary Barna, and was a native of Maybeury, W.Va., in McDowell County. She was a 50-year resident of St. Albans and a member of St. George Orthodox Church. She retired from employment as an elementary school teacher for 36 years, having taught in McDowell and Kanawha counties, teaching her final 15 years at Parkway Elementary School in St. Albans. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, John Eastone; sister, Anna Merguc; brother-in-law, Andrew Merguc; and nephew, John Clark Harless. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, J. Michael and Patty A. Eastone of St. Albans; granddaughter and husband, Julie A. and David A. Perry of St. Albans; grandson and wife, Dr. John A. and Courtney J. "Wilbert Marcum 74, of Iaeger, WV passed away Friday, September 27, 2019 in the Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Division, in Charleston, WV."Wilbert was born January 11, 1943 in Welch, WV a son of the late Wallace and Myrtle Rife Marcum. He was a very friendly and outgoing person and never meet a stranger. Wilbert was a member of the Church of God in Iaeger and formerly served as a councilman on the Iaeger Town Council for several years. He was a member of the Iaeger Lions Club and was a huge supporter and fan of the Iaeger Cubs; he was the sports announcer for all their home games for several years and was fondly known as “Voice of the Cubs.”
