"ROSEDALE, Va. Mr. Wallace Creed Rife, age 89, of Rosedale, Va., passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born in Jolo, W.Va. and was the son of the late Joseph Critton "Joda" and Amanda Wimmer Rife. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a disabled miner from Jewell Ridge Coal Corporation. He was a member of UMWA Local #7327 District 17 Jewell Valley, Va. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran having served in the European Theater. He was of the Pentecostal faith and attended the Pisgah Pentecostal Church prior to his illness. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lula Dotson Rife; one daughter, Laura Ilene Rife; two sisters, Gertrude Rife and Gay Hale; and three brothers, Ondas, Willard, and John Ulyess Rife."Survivors are his wife, Ruby Davis Rife; three daughters, Janice Street and husband, Joe of Abingdon, Va., Doris Rife Crawford of Raleigh, N.C., Glenda Jackson and husband, Jim of Pounding Mill, Va.; three sons, Jackie Rife and wife, Patricia of Cedar Bluff, Va., Larry Rife and wife, Sandra of Pounding Mill, Va., Jerry Rife, and wife, Liz of Pounding Mill, Va.; three brothers, Otto Rife of Pineville, W.Va., Hassell Rife of Gary, W.Va., and Ray Rife of Mocksville, N.C.; fifteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
