"Jim Gianato was born in Italy on November
2, 1888. In the early 1900’s he was a subcon—
tractor for the Tidewater Colliers. Later he
established Gianato Taxi Service and a grocery
store. In 1923 he opened Gianalo’s Store
where it is still to be found today on Main Street
in Kimball. He died in 1927. He was married to
Mary Foti and they had a son Luke, owner of
Gianato Pontiac Buick Dealership. Luke mar-
ried Virginia Cooke and they had two daugh—
ters; Martha, a school teacher who is married to
Don Hector, an employee of Eastern Coal Co.
They have a daughter Laura, who is married to
Ken Nolan and lives in Frederick, Maryland
Daughter Jenna is employed by Federal
Express and lives in Tennessee. She is married
to Jim Calovini and they have a daughter Jen—
niter, also employed by Federal Express.
"In 1920 he married Rosie Ross and they had
three sons and a daughter.
"John, a retiree of Consolidation Coal Com—
pany, was married to Beulah McKinney, who
passed away in 1977. They have two sons,
John Jr. and Michael. John served in the U. S.
Air Force.
"Mike, who manages Gianato’ Store. He mar-
ried Lora Mae Gillespie, who passed away in
1980. They have two sons. Michael is married
to Beth Harrison and they have two daughters,
Lori Beth and Krystle Ann. Son Anthony is mar—
ried to Donna Chinsolo and has two daughters,
Amanda LeAnn and Kelli Nichols.
Mike served in the U. S. Army.
"James, a retiree of Consolidation Coal Com-
pany, is married to Mary Verduce. They have
two sons: James Joseph, who is married to
Markella Balasis and they have one son James
Adam and son Luke is employed as Supervisor
of Industrial and Employee Relations of Enlow
Fork Mining Co. of Washington, Pennsylvania.
James served in the U. S. Army.
"Marie is employed in the state Capitol in
Charleston as a secretary. She is married to
Tom Nickerson, a retiree of Dupont Company.
They have a son, Foster, who is a Lieutenant

"KIMBALL — James Gianato, age 87, of Kimball, WV, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center after a short Illness. Born May 20, 1927 in Kimball, WV, he was the son of the late James Gianato and Rosie Rossi Gianato.
"He was a graduate of Welch High School in 1945, a veteran of the U.S. Army World War II, and a lifetime member of the Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church in Kimball, WV. He was the owner and operator of the Gianato's Grocery Store in Kimball and retired from Consolidation Coal Company.
"He was a member of Kimball Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow, the American Legion Post 40 and 8, the VFW and the Order of Kentucky Colonel and was a life long resident of Kimball, WV.
"Other than his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Luke Gianato, Johnny Gianato, Mike Gianato and one infant daughter.
"He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Mary Verduce Gianato of the home; two sons, Jimmy Joe Gianato and wife Markella, of Kimball, WV, Luke Gianato of Kimball, WV; one sister, Marie Nickerson of Charleston, WV; one grandson, Adam Gianato of Kimball, WV; one great-grandson, James Matthew Gianato; several nieces and nephews and a close and special friend, Dan Rasi of Bluefield, WV.
"A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 11 AM at the Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church in Kimball, WV, with Father Mike Wood as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell, WV. A Military Graveside Service will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.
"Friends may call Monday, July 28, 2014 from 6 until 8 PM at Widener Funeral Home in Northfork, WV. A Rosary Service will be conducted at 7:45 PM.

"Benjamin "Chickasaw Ben" White was born on Jan 30 1762 in Amherst County Virginia. He died on Oct 18 1850 in Pond Fork,Boone County Virginia..
"Ben White was born in the part of Frederick Co., VA that later
became Shenandoah Co., VA. Shortly after marrying Nancy
Goodwin they moved to Green Co., NC. This is supported i n a
land sale by Benjamin and his brother Brittain that was left
to them by their father. January 27, 1791 Land Deed "...
Britain White of County Shenandoah, VA and Benjamin White,
now of Green Co., NC, both sons of William White, deceased...
" A few years later they settled on the south side of
Christians Fork of Brush Creek in Montgomery Co., i n the
later part of 1787; this later became Giles Co., V A in 1806
where all eleven of their children were born. On April 26,
1819 they sold this property consisting of 38 8 acres to
Daniel mcKenzie for four hundred dollars and moved to what
is now Logan Co., W V. Their cabin was built on Buffalo Creek,
a tributary of the Guyandot te River. They lived there for
almost 20 years before moving again, across the mountains
to Upper Pond Fork of Little Coal River in now what is Boone
