"Joseph “Joe” Monti, 82, of Welch passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Welch Community Hospital. Born December 9, 1937 in Welch he was the son of the late Mary Bonel Monti and Joseph Monti Sr."Joe was a 1955 graduate of Welch High School, a 1959 graduate of the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy, as a Registered Pharmacist. He was the Co-Owner of the Flat Iron Drug Store in Welch for over 55 years prior to his retirement in 2018. Joe was an avid WVU Sports Fan, and a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church in Welch where he served on the Parish Pastoral Council.
"Left to cherish his memories are his wife Janet Marie Smithberger Monti of the home; two sons, Steven Monti and wife Beckie and John Monti and wife Bobbi all of Morgantown; and three grandchildren, Luke, Emily and Lauren Monti.
"A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from the St. Peter Catholic Church in Welch at 11:00 AM with Father Binny Thomas Mulackal, as celebrant.
