"John Sebert Pertee, 75, of Roderfield, WV, passed away at his residence, surrounded by his family and friends, Sunday, April 8, 2018."Sebert was born March 2, 1943 in Welch, WV, a son of the late Sherman Culley and Gladys Steele Pertee. He was a beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Sebert was a veteran of the United States Navy; a coal miner for 16 1/2 years and a UMWA representative for 16 years. He was also, the current president of the UMWA Local #5997. Sebert had a love of nature and was an avid hunter and fisherman; he also enjoyed ginsaning.
"In addition to his parents Sebert was preceded in death by his wife, Eveline Pertee; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Pertee Elliott; two brothers, Kelly Pertee, and Donald Pertee; and three sisters, Mavis Martin, Nadine Sorah, and Wanda Sadler.

"Oscar Green West, 96, of Clear Fork, WV, departed this life on April 2, 2020 at his home following a short illness.
Born on October 8, 1923 in Guyan, WV, he was the son of the late Green and Vida West. Oscar was welcomed to
his heavenly home by his beloved wife of 58 years, Irene Cole West. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in
death by all of his siblings: Herman Walker, Neva Johnson, Herbert West, Grace Morgan, Stella Walls, Jenny
West, and Lottie Browning; as well as one great-grandson, Ethan England. A World War II Army veteran, Oscar
served our country in the Battle of Attu in Alaska. He was also stationed as a prison guard, cook, and supply
truck driver in Michigan and Maryland. Following his military service, Oscar and Irene moved to Sun Hill, WV, to
make their home and raise their family. There, Oscar opened a service station, which he operated for nearly 30
years. He was also employed by the Wyoming County Board of Education as a school bus driver for many years.
Oscar was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and most-notably, beekeeping. Family
and friends looked forward to enjoying his delicious, golden honey and yields of heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers,
apples, and grapes every year. Oscar was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and
great-great grandfather who trusted in Jesus Christ as his personal savior. He attended Oceana Freewill Baptist
Church, where he enjoyed fellowship with many wonderful friends in Christ and always carried a pocketful of
candy to give to the children. Those left to cherish his memory include a son, Stanley West, of Sun Hill, a
daughter, Joyce Smith and husband, Earl, of Clear Fork; five grandchildren, Rebecca England, Pamela Basham
(Jason), John West (Charisma), Byron Smith (Lethea), and Brianna Smith; ten great-grandchildren, Christin
England, Kasie England, Logan Bosley, Lindsey Bosley, Marshall Basham, Jackson West, Titus West, Violet West,
Finn Smith, and Cannon Smith; four great-great grandchildren, Audrey Bosley, Kyler Johnson, Kasen England, and
Anthony Russell; special caregivers Dorothy Brooks and Gloria Blankenship; and a host of other loving family and
friends. A private funeral services will be held Monday April 6th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home,
Lynco, with Pastor Jackie Grimmett officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his loving wife in Palm Memorial
