"James M and Wilmoth apparently were not the parents of Rebecca E Martin. Aside from being a bit on the young side in 1864, the 1900 census for Smith River, Patrick County, indicates that they were married in 1875, and that Wilmoth had born 5 children, all of whom were still living.

"Robert Alexander Redd, 27, of Princeton, West Virginia, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020 due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Born on November 2, 1992 in Bluefield, West Virginia he was the son of the late Faye Redd. She provided loving care to Robert until she succumbed after a nearly lifelong struggle to Sickle Cell Anemia disease while Robert was in his early teens. It was through her care, efforts, and love that her precious Robert had such a well photographed childhood. She gave him a special birthday part each year, which was so well attended that it became an annual highlight for his many family member and friends. After the death of his mother, followed by the death of his grandmother, Beatrice L. Redd, the care and guardianship of Robert was lovingly undertaken by Cousin David Jennings and his wife Melissa of Princeton; and his godmothers, Sarah N. Hall of Maybeury, and Olga (Preston) Hurt of Bluefield, WV, both of whom he referred to as aunts, and all of whom survive him. Robert attended Mt. View High School in McDowell County where he played baseball and basketball, as well as participating in the HSTA Program. He later moved to Mercer County and attended Princeton Senior High School where he played basketball and completed the HSTA program requirements for a college scholarship. He graduated from Princeton Senior High School in 2011 and went on to attend Bluefield State College and New River Community and Technical College receiving an Associates of Applied Science Degree in 2019. Robert was a lifelong member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Maybeury where he was dedicated to the Lord. He became a faithful member, participating in church activities and helping to operate the equipment for the musical selections played at the church. Robert followed sports, and his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed attending and supporting his family at sporting events. He enjoyed riding four-wheelers and motorcycles. He was last employed by Lawrence Brother, Inc. of Bluefield, Virginia. In addition to this mother and maternal grandmother he was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Alexander; maternal great-grandmother, Faye B, Jennings; his great-grandparents, H.H. Alexander and Ella Alexander; and his great-uncles, Roy Jennings and Francis Jennings; and Godmother, Frances Hall Graves. He is survived by his brother, Noah Pierce of Columbus, Ohio; his father, Matthew Peoples; fiancé, Ariel Lambert and her family of Princeton; great-aunts, Hattie Hampton of Columbus, Ohio; Laura Brooks of Princeton, and Deidre (Dan) Harris of Norfolk, Virginia; great-uncles, John Jennings of Columbus, Ohio and Thomas Jennings of Bluefield, Virginia; cousin David (Altavese) Jennings of Princeton; adopted grandparents, Reverend David Cooper and Michelle Cooper of Princeton; special cousins who were like brothers, David Jennings, Jr. (DJ) of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Davion Jennings of Princeton; uncles, Roy (Wayne) Jennings of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Robert “Bobby” Jennings of Princeton; special cousins, Chevy Jennings, little Faye Jennings, and Jaela Cooper; aunt, Cynthia Mahaffey of Glenwood, and Charles and Mary Jennings of Bluefield; special friends, Shemiah Adams, Christopher Hairston, Terrance Dodson, Andrew Hickman, and Jan Rucker. Robert was such a kind and caring person with a charismatic, captivating smile. He will be sadly missed by so many. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Bluefield with Reverend Henry Hall and Reverend David Cooper officiating. Pallbears are Roy “Wayne” Jennings, Robert Jennings, David Jennings, Jr. Aaron Jackson, Davion Jennings, Daniel Jennings, and Raphael Cooper."
