Billy Wayne Adams Sr., 75, of Berwind, WV, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023, surrounded by his family at his home in Berwind. Born July 22, 1948, in War, WV, he was the son of the late Claude Adams Sr. and Lela Clydie Trivett."He was married to his soul mate the late Wilma Lea Hicks Adams for over 50 years. They all preceded him in death as well as his brother, Claude Adams Jr.; brothers-in-law, Leonard Dougaree, Ronald Lee Hicks, Charles “Buck” Hicks, Fred Adams, David Ford; sisters-in-law, Mildred Hess Wessinger, Wanda Hicks Ford, Fronie Hicks Graham, Shelby Jean Hicks, and Elvie Hicks.
"Bill was a US Veteran, having served in the United States Army in the 60’s. He worked at several coal mines in the area, Barrett’s Construction for many years, where he worked along side his dad and his brothers. He retired from Harry’s Mobile Homes. Currently serving as Chief of the Berwind Volunteer Fire Department where he has been a member for 37 years. He loved his department and the firemen there were his family as well. They recently honored him as a Hometown Hero, and it made him so proud. He has also been serving as a Deacon at the Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church for several years. A commitment that he took very seriously and that he was honored to serve the Lord.
"Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Linda “Dee Dee” Adams-Brigham (Damon); his son, Billy Wayne Adams Jr. (Lori); his sister, Betty Dougaree of Chester, MD and brother, James Adams (Connie) of Tazewell, VA; three granddaughters, “his babies” Shelby Nicole Adams, Haley Sierra Adams and Paige Makenzie Adams; brothers-in-law, Rudolph Hicks, Patrick Graham; sisters-in-law, Kaylene Adams, Gail Rutherford (Tommy), Jackie Mitchell (Howard). "Following the services the funeral procession will proceed to the Berwind Fire Department, where Military Rites will be conducted by the Iaeger V.F.W. Post 1144 of Iaeger, followed by the Fire Department Service Rites including the Bell Ringing Ceremony and Last Call.

"Wilma Lea Adams, 68 of Berwind, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020 at her residence. Born March 24, 1952 in War, WV, she was the daughter of the late Cloie Hale Hicks and Ruben Hicks Jr."Wilma attended Big Creek High School and she was member of the Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church. She was also a cook for the McDowell County Board of Education for 17 years.
"In addition to her parents Wilma was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald Lee Hicks and Charles Edward Hicks; three sisters, Fronie Graham, Shelby Jean Hicks and Wanda Ford.
