"Johnny Wayne Matney, 53, of Panther, WV, passed away, Monday, January 11, 2021 in the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, KY."Johnny was born August 12, 1967 in Welch, WV, a son of the late Wayne and Helen Lester Matney. He loved helping people and enjoyed working with wood.
"In addition to his parents Johnny was preceded in death by one brother, Charlie Blankenship and two sisters, Charlotte and Ocie Roberts.
"Survivors include his wife Lee Nora Matney of the home; one son, Taylor Johnny Vincell and wife Breanna of Princeton; one grandson, Ashton Lane Vincell of Princeton; two brothers, James Blankenship of Panther and Ronnie Matney and wife Sylvia also of Panther; and six sisters, Kimberly Mills and husband James of Princeton, Mary Keene Lyons of North Carolina, Susan Roberts of Kentucky, Phyllis Collin sand husband James of Isaban, Diane Stevens and husband Virgel of Roderfield and Michelle Dunn and husband Ronald of South Carolina.
"Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 18, 2021 at 12 o’clock with Elder Kermit Lester and Elder Fred Bailey officiating at the Panther Creek Old Regular Baptist Church at Panther, WV; all other Elders of the same faith and order are welcome to join them. Burial will follow in the Noah Justice Cemetery at Mud Fork near Panther. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
" Friends may visit with the family Saturday evening January 16, 2021 after 6 p.m. and all day Sunday, January 17, 2021at the Panther Creek Old Regular Baptist Church. Evening services will be held both evenings.

She had resided in Maybeury, WV most of her life, until her recent move to Bluefield, VA, due to health challenges. Clara sincerely believed she had the most rewarding job in the world; which was being a homemaker and dedicating her life to raising her children. In April of 1985, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of The Original Glorious Church of God in Christ in Maybeury, under the leadership of the late Minister Hazel Cockrell. She was greatly involved in this Ministry as being one of the secretaries of the Church, she was responsible for recording the Church Newsletters for the Missionary Ministry. Also, she took great pride in cleaning the Church every Saturday. Clara received her spiritual gift of healing from God and God alone, for whomever the Lord directed in her path, she laid hands on and prayed for them. "Tiffany Delano "Tiff" Wooden age 57, a native of Maybeury, WV was born on September 11, 1962 in Welch, WV and was a blessing from the Lord to his parents, Clara M. Wooden and the late Frank Wooden Jr. On July 1, 2020 his mother, Clara graciously released him back to the Lord at the Cabell-Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV. Tiff attended Switchback Elementary, Elkhorn Middle School and was home schooled during his high school years. He was so lovingly and patiently cared for by his Mother for the past forty years, due to an auto/bicycle accident that disabled him. Although Tiff was disabled, he managed to live an adventurous filled life, the best that he could. At a very young age, Tiff enjoyed fishing; he had a passion for drawing, sketching, was a certified swimmer and genuinely loved the outdoors. He was baptized at the Original Glorious Church of God in Christ in Maybeury, WV. In addition to his father, Frank Jr., he was preceded in death by one brother, Ricardo E. Wooden; his grandparents: Elizabeth and Frank Wooden Sr., and Edward and Lottie Robinson. He is survived by his mother, Clara; his two brothers, Gary L. and Frank-Zackary (Stephanie) Wooden both of Taylorsville, NC; his sister, Rhonda M. (Wayne) Johnson of Rex, GA; his six aunts: Alberta Wallace of Welch, WV, Ethel Mullins of Bluefield, WV, Vernice Jones, Pauline (Frank) McCrary, and Doris Barrett all of Columbus, OH and Geraldine Robinson of New York, NY and a special cousin who also loved him, Ella Mae Hairston of Maybeury; four nephews: Channing (Jessika) of Bakersfield, CA, Matthew (Alecia) of Taylorsville, NC, Chanse (Tierra) of Hampton, GA and Zachary "Lil Zach" of Bluefield, WV and his niece, Tyieka "Kiki" of Taylorsville, NC. "Tiff" will be sadly missed by a host of other family and friends who loved him dearly.
